Cats of Transnistria is a Doom/Dream Pop duo from Helsinki. The band was formed in 2014 by Henna Emilia Hietamäki and Tuomas Alatalo. 1) Cat: A carnivorous mammal (Felis catus) long domesticated as a pet and for catching rats and mice. 2) Transnistria: Transnistria (also called Trans-Dniestr or Transdniestria) is a breakaway state located mostly on a strip of land between the River Dniester and the eastern Moldovan border with Ukraine. It is internationally recognised as part of the Republic of Moldova but whose de facto independence is maintained with the assistance of Russian forces. PS. Our friend told us that while he visited Transnistria, he did not see any cats.
